Fall Wishlist #1: Driving Gloves

Driving Gloves

Here’s something I’ve been looking for for the past few weeks. Timelessly cool, marginally functional, very versatile. They are thin enough to start wearing on cool days without looking ridiculous, but also warm enough to wear into the cooler months before heavy gloves become a necessity. Get some in light tan or reddish brown leather and when you go in doors, take them off and stick them in the breast pocket of your blazer with the fingers sticking out. Very cool look and a nice change up from the traditional pocket square. Or stick them in the back pocket of your jeans with the fingers sticking out, another cool style that mimics a baseball player’s gloves after they reach first base.

The snap button clasp is a necessity too, as I think the velcro ones look cheap. Adjustable velcro band leads to a better fit/better driving grip you say? Let’s be realistic. I live in NYC and don’t have a car, these are purely for the look.

Now the tough part is finding a nice pair. The picture above is from www.leatherglovesonline.com – the only place I’ve been able to find a nice selection. I am hesitant to buy something like this online without being able to try them however. Hopefully as the mercury drops they will start popping up in some stores.
